Uber select car requirements

Uber Select Car Requirements

Uber Select is a step above the normal everyday car. This is where you start going from everyday vehicles to the entry level luxury cars.

There aren’t as many on the road and the fares are much higher than the Uberx, but still shouldn’t kill your wallet if you decide to be a passenger instead of a driver.

This page is dedicated to showing you what the Uber Select car requirements are needed to qualify to drive.
If you would like to see the car requirements for other Uber services just click below on any of the services you would like to drive for.

What Is Uber Select

Uber Select, also known as Uber Plus in some areas, is the beginning of luxury cars on the Uber platform. The cars look nicer, the fares are higher, and you’re not competing with as many Uber drivers for that “next” ride.

While I will always recommend starting off on UberX, Uber Select is a great option for those who already have good looking, comfortable cars to drive in.

This the platform where you will start seeing more people with Audi’s, BMW’s, and Mercedes Benz’s picking you up instead of some Toyota Prius.

How To Become An Uber Select Driver

One of the most asked questions I’ve been receiving is, “How do you become an Uber Select driver if your vehicle qualifies?

So let me explain the steps:

  1. You must sign up to drive as an Uberx or UberXL driver first. (You can’t skip to Uber Select without completing this step)
  2. You must complete 50-100 trips as an UberX or UberXL driver.
  3. You must maintain between 4.7-4.8 driver rating and maintain it. Aim for 4.8 to be safe.
  4. Once you complete steps 1-3 Uber should upgrade you automatically to receive Uber Select request. If they don’t send them a message.

As long your car qualifies in your city it should be pretty easy to complete these steps.

One thing to note: Depending on the city you drive in, you will also be required to maintain an 80% acceptance rate or above.

You can become an Uber driver in these three easy steps.

Uber Car Requirements

Each Uber service has a different set of car requirements. Uber Select is where Uber really starts getting more picky with the car requirements, but there are still plenty of cars to choose from to drive on this ride-sharing platform.

Every person that wants to be an Uber driver must meet these basic requirements regardless of the Uber service you choose to drive for:

  • You must be 21 years of age or older.
  • You must Have a U.S. Driver license for at least a year.
  • You must have an in-state Drivers License.
  • You must have in-state license plates
  • Have current car registration
  • Car Insurance reaching the minimal state requirements (Name must show on your policy)
  • You must have a clean driving record.
  • You must pass a criminal background check.

Uber Select Car Requirements

Below is a list of the car requirements to qualify to be an Uber Select driver:

  • Model Year: Must be 2009 or newer*
  • Entry-level, 5-passenger luxury sedans only (full list of eligible vehicles is available below)
  • Body Style: Must be a 4-door vehicle
  • Vehicles must seat 4 passengers (excluding the driver)
  • Vehicles with a 3rd row of seating are ineligible for SELECT in San Francisco
  • Leather or vegan leather interior required
  • No rental vehicles
  • No cosmetic damage
  • No commercial branding or taxi color paint jobs
  • No marked, taxi, or salvage titled vehicles
  • No large passenger vans or commercial/Heavy Duty trucks
  • Must pass the Uber car inspection

* Car year requirements¬†vary by city and are subject to change at Uber’s discretion.

Also Uber Select is not available in all markets

Qualifying Cars For Uber Select

While this isn’t high-end luxury driving, it is still a step above the rest. Your vehicle must meet slightly stricter requirements and they are more expensive vehicles to drive.

While eligible cars can slightly change city to city, I have compiled a list of qualifying cars for the San Francisco and Los Angeles market.

    • Hey Olga,
I would say no to your Pacifica qualifying for Select, but I’m sure it would be a great car for Uber XL.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Matt,
I don’t usually see many Dodge vehicles on the Select list. It would be best to see send Uber a message about whether or not the vehicle qualifies. Great car though! I love Chargers.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

      • Hey Johnny,
Ford Flex probably isn’t on the list since it’s more-so considered a utility vehicle than a luxurious car.
        Best Regards,
        Brandon

  1. Hi, I have a 2016 Tesla Model S and a 2017 Tesla Model X. I live in Cape Coral, FL, and could serve the Lee County, Collier County and Hendry County. would this be OK with Uber to qualify for UberSelect?

    • Hey Michael,
Using your Tesla for Uber Select should be completely fine. When you first sign up you will start on UberX. After you take 50 or so trips you should automatically be upgraded.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Tim,
Nice vehicle. I know your Your Audi is a luxury vehicle, but I’m not sure if it would qualify. I don’t think Uber likes hatchbacks for Uber Select which is what your vehicle is. The best way to truly find out would be to message Uber about it. The Audi A3 Etron may qualify depending on the city. So you never know.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  2. I have a Bmw 328i 2013, Can I use it in Uber select? I have 300 rides complete in Uber x. Can I qualify for Uber select?

    • Hey Junior,
More than likely you should qualify for Uber Select. I would just need to know your city to verify that.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  3. Hello Sir

I’m just getting into the Uber business and wanted to know if the 2014 Cadillac XTS PLATINUM was ok for Uber Select? It’s black exterior and Black interior

    • Hey Michael,
Depending where you live your vehicle should qualify. With the Cadillac XTS, I would say you more than likely do qualify. If you’re ready to start driving for Uber you can start the sign-up process now.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  4. When my car was inspected i was told I can do select and X. Now only X. If the ilx is on the list. . .. Y not Tsx ? All Accura I have 09 Acura TSX

    • Hey Jorge,
It depends where you live. Some markets only accept a few different types of Acuras. Other markets will accept all models. If you were originally doing Uber Select, your vehicle year(2009) might be too old for your market now since the year has changed. Hope that helps answer your question.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  5. After meeting all the qualification can you drive Uber Select only? Or do you get rides for both without the any option.

    • Hey Michael,
Great question you have there. Once you meet all of the qualifications for Uber Select, you CAN drive Uber Select only. Most people drive down to the Uber greenlight hub to get their account set-up for Select only once they qualify. Ask Uber to set you up with separate accounts so you can switch between Select only, and UberX and Select together.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  6. Hi Brandon,

I am trying to get on w/Uber here in Denver and I’m hoping you can give me a few examples of vehicles I could use for XL and Select once I qualify.

I ASSUME I can drive for X and XL until I get Select qualified, right?

Thank you for your help, you have a wonderful website!

    Take Care, Matthew
PS I am STUNNED the Grand Cherokee isn’t on the Select list, but a Chrysler 300 is. Crazy…

    • Hey Mathew,
As long your car can seat 6 people and you meet all of the other Uberx requirements, you will qualify for UberXL. As far as Select, I would say the above cars are pretty good examples. And yes, you could drive for X, XL, and Select at the same time if you your vehicle qualifies. Is the Grand Cherokee what you’re driving in Denver? If it is, you would qualify for Uber Select. The vehicle just doesn’t qualify in most markets. Yours is the exception.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  7. Hello Brandon.

I have a 2011 Acura TL and was just accepted to drive for UBER in Columbus, Ohio. I see the TLX is only listed. Is the TL acceptable for UBER Select?

Also, do you get selected for UBER Select immediately or is there some criteria you have to meet first?

    Thanks

    • Hey Thomas,
I just looked at the Select list for Columbus and it looks like you car does qualify there. I couldn’t find the criteria for becoming a Select driver there, but you typically have to take 50+ trips and have a 4.8 or better driver rating. If after fifty trips your car doesn’t start receiving Select trips then I would message Uber. You can not become an Uber Select driver without first driving for UberX, the lowest tier on the Uber platform.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon
P.S. You can sign up to drive for Uber with my 3 step guide.

  8. Hello! Currently in the process of registering and getting a vehicle inspection done. Was wondering if my vehicle would eventually be eligible for uber select. Vehicle is a 2016 Nissan Maxima SR, black exterior with black leather interior with the alacantra suede trim. Car is in flawless condition with only 1500 miles on it, non smoker, fresh off the dealership lot last month. It has every feature available on it short of the moonroof only available on the platinum edition. It has every feature you’d find on a high end BMW or Mercedes along with a few that I haven’t seen. Thank you for any information you may have!

    • Hey Austin,
Congrats on the brand new car. In most markets, Nissan Maxima doesn’t qualify for Uber Select. You have a better chance because your car is a 2016 which is pretty new. It would never hurt to ask Uber when you get your vehicle inspection finished. Though chances are slim.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Dave,
Since the car is discontinued and was only made up to 2011, I would say this car doesn’t qualify for Uber Select. It should be perfectly fine for UberX though.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  9. I have a Hyundai Sonata, 2013
I have been driving for almost a year (9+). About 2316’s 5 stars of
5500 trips. Average 4.8 and above.
Am I qualify for Uber Select?
    If not, why?
    Thanks
I’m very appropriate that if you can respond back to me.

    • Hey Chih,
Sounds like you’re a pretty good Uber driver and been doing this for a long time. I drive the same car as you, but my Sonata is a 2011. I wish my car qualified, but unfortunately, it doesn’t. While it’s a comfortable, spacious car to drive, Uber doesn’t believe passengers are willing to pay higher for this type of car. It’s not a luxurious enough car to qualify.
Most of the cars that I’ve seen qualify for Uber Select are 30,000+ brand new. Some markets standards are a little lower, but it all depends on what vehicles Uber thinks passengers will appreciate paying more for overall. In just about every market that includes the Sonata.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  10. Hello I have a 2015 GMC Sierra that is customized from the manufacturer by Rocky Ridge and sold as a high end truck ( leather, electric side steps, carbon fiber interior…) . Do you think I could qualify for Uber select? I live near Raeford/Fayetteville NC.

    • Hey Jacob,
Trucks is not a typical vehicle for Uber Select. To be honest, I’ve never heard of someone’s truck qualifying for Uber select. aIf you still want to drive for Uber you can always drive for UberX. Click here if you want to drive for Uber.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  11. Hi.
I been driving Uber X in San Francisco Bay Area over a year, with my Lexus RX 350 2005.
Now I got a Lexus RX 350 2010 luxurious with leather interior, because a few months ago I saw that Lexus RX qualify for Uber select .
When I was doing all the paper work Uber told me that they took Lexus RX from the select list ! ( not good ).
Today I was driving and I got a call for Uber select ( awesome ) .
That is great , but what’s going on ???

    • Hey Katt,
Sometimes the car requirements change. It’s unfortunate that your car didn’t qualify. If they called you maybe they changed their mind. You could always go to the greenlight hub and see if you can get your car upgraded now. Let me know.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  12. I have a Toyota highlander limited 3rd row seat all leather interior with self adjusting heat and air in rear and i live in benton harbor mi what would my vehicle rate with uber

  13. Hi I want to start to drive for uber in NY and I have a 2013 infiniti G37. I don’t see my car on the list for uberx but see it listed for uber select. maybe im just confused about the process but how would i be able to get 50-100 rides to be eligible for select if i cant use my car for uberx? also if my car in not eligible for both why would infiniti g37 not be allowed being that it meets all the minimum requirements… 4 doors, seats 4 ppl, leather, good condition, 2013,etc?

    • Hey Carlo,
I think there was a little confusion. If your car qualifies for any of the higher services Uber offers (Uber Select, Uber Black, Etc..), then your car will automatically qualify for Uberx as well. However, in order to qualify for one of the higher services, you first have to drive for Uberx.
So if your car qualifies for Uber Select, you first:
Sign up to drive for Uberx
Take the required trips to be eligible for Select and keep your rating high
Once you meet the requirements, get upgraded to Uber Select(should happen automatically)
If for some reason your car doesn’t qualify for at least Uberx, I would ask Uber why at the Uber greenlight hub.
Hope this helps clear things up.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Steve,
More than likely your Jeep will only qualify for Uberx, but it does depend which you are located in.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  14. Hi I’m an Uber driver and I just bought a new car. it’s a 2017 Chevrolet equinox black leather seats. does it qualify for a Uber select? And do i have to wait until i get my license plates or could i work now with the 30 days tags i’m in Kansas city mo

    • Hey Anakaren,
Unfortunately, your Chevrolet Equinox does not qualify for Uber Select. But, you can still drive for UberX. As far as your license plate tags, you probably can upload a photo of the temporary tags and be fine. However, once those tags expire you will have to upload the new ones in order to keep driving.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  15. I drive 2013 ML550 in Santa Clara CA. my SUV is in excellent condition
I’d like to apply for Uber Select. Do you think Uber Select is high demand in my area? Thank you.

    • Hey Harit,
I don’t drive Select, but I do live in the Bay Area. I’m in a few Facebook groups and I’ve seen a few people do “only” Select in the Bay area. From their screenshots, I don’t see them taking a lot of rides, but they are still making a pretty good hourly pay because the fares are much higher.
I know the San Francisco market is one of the best in the country. So I definitely would recommend you sign up and give Uber a try. You will have to start on UberX and take 50 rides or so first, but after you should automatically get upgraded to Select. If you don’t, you can send Uber a message and they will take care of you.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon
P.S. You can get a sign-up bonus going through this link.

  16. I have a 2009 Mercury Sable premier which is the platinum edition, my car wasn’t on the list but it’s a luxury car and I would like to be an uber select driver, I’m already driving for uber now

    • Hey Connie,
If you are already driving for Uber you could send them a message seeing if they would upgrade you to Select. It depends on the market you are in whether or not your car qualifies. I haven’t seen your Mercury on any list, but it’s worth a try. Worst Uber can do is say your car doesn’t qualify.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  17. I see my model under uber select but not getting the rates for it. I drive a 2010 infiniti fx35. Can I be switched to uber select?

    • Hey Desmond,
Every city can be slightly different on which vehicles qualify for Uber Select. Your car may qualify in one city, but may not in another city. What market do you drive in? It’ll be easier to tell if you qualify with a city name.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  18. I am signing up and have a 2016 Chevy Equinox LTZ that has everything they offered on it. dark grey outside, black leather inside. Does my suv qualify for select in San Diego? Thanks Dana

    • Hey Dana,
Unfortunately your Chevy Equinox doesn’t qualify for anything more than UberX. Since you are planning on signing up, don’t forget to use my referral code to get a sign-up bonus. It’s free money just for trying out Uber.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  19. Hey, great article. I currently drive a black 2010 Jaguar XFR and see that I’m covered in your list under the X-type range, wonderful. Just commenting because I couldn’t help but notice that you included the Porsche Cayman on your list, which is a mid-engined, two door sports car that sits between the Boxster and the 911 in Porsche’s line-up. Just wanted to notify in case this is a typo. If not, it’s awesome that they’re letting in sports cars!

    • Hey Reeve,
Thanks for letting me know about having the Porsche Cayman on the list, but being two door. I have gotten mixed up on which cars are 2 doors and which are 4 doors sometimes. It’s funny, this list actually came from Uber, which is why I had the Porsche Cayman on the list. Well, I double-checked their list, and sure enough it doesn’t qualify anymore! I guess that’s what you get for copying someone else’s list. Uber made a mistake, and I copied theirs. Well, I updated the car list to represent the change. Once again, thanks for letting me know.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  20. Hi, I drive in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM. I drive a 2014 Ford Fussion SE with leather interior, airbag seat belts in the back, both front seats are heated, sun roof, back seat heat and air conditioning. Does my vehicle qualify for uber select?

    • Hey David,
I just looked up the requirements for Albuquerque. I don’t see your car on the list. If you haven’t already, you can still sign up to drive for UberX.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  21. Hi
Can I get clarification regardi an Audi A3? I see it on your list but when I look at the official uber list, it has S3 but not A3? Mine is a 2015

    • Hey AK,
I see what you mean with the list. I just double checked myself. While Audi A3 used to be eligible, Apparently it is not anymore. This may depend on the market. So, I wouldn’t say this is the case everywhere, but I guess eligibility has changed a little bit. I’m not sure why Uber took the Audi A3 off the list. Honestly, since it’s recent, I would still see if you can qualify with your Audi.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  22. I am already a uberX driver Ann noticed the uber select option on my rider app. I currently drive a Ford Fussion SE Hybrid with leather interior and several other upgrades. Does my vehicle qualify for uber select? If so, can I drive on both platforms? Thanks, David

    • Hey David,
I hope you are enjoying driving. Depending on the market you live in would depend whether or not your vehicle qualifies for Select. So I would need that information to check. Unfortunately, Ford Fusion isn’t a very common car on the Select platform. So I would say your chances are pretty slim. But, you do end up qualifying; Yes, you can drive on platforms. A lot of people drive that way
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  23. I have a really nice 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ with leather interior limo lighting and all the bells and whistles. I was told it didn’t qualify as luxury? How can I get qualified?

    • Hey Gus,
Chevrolet seems to be one of the brands that Uber doesn’t qualify for Uber Select. You can still drive UberX however.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  24. 2016 Ford Focus SE (luxury model) 5dr Hatchback- *Market Kansas City*
Meets every requirement but being on the list. I am going into their in-person office tomorrow to have someone personally inspect the vehicle, its a beautiful car, dark gray, black rims, tinted windows, sunroof, all of that. I just don’t make enough on UberX to justify continuing to drive with all incurred expensive as a result of being a partner. Would they rather lose an awesome driver, or make an exception?

    Phil

    • Hey Phil,
I can understand your frustration with low earnings. Not every market is great. I don’t think I’ve heard of a Hatchback getting approved. Please let me know how your inspection goes. It would be awesome if they did upgrade you to Select. Sadly, even if you are an awesome driver, Uber most likely won’t make an exception. It’s no offense to you. It’s just if Uber made an exception for everyone, then Uber Select wouldn’t be much of a premium service anymore. I drive a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, a lot of people compliment me. If I was in a few other markets I would qualify. But, In San Francisco, there are a lot more Luxury cars than mine. So I don’t qualify. I wish I could qualify when I would in other markets, but it is what is. Just means you will have to come up with another strategy of making money with Uber.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  25. HI, does a 2014 Escalade qualify for UBER SELECT in LA?
l would like to drive at Select Level to make enough $ to pay for the requirements to move up to UBER SUV and up.

    • Hey Stephen,
The Escalade qualifies for Uber SUV, so for sure it should qualify for Uber Select as well. As well as Uber XL.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  26. Hey Brandon, this is somewhat off the subject but I am planning on buying a car that is under Ubers list that you can get up to thousands off. How do I go about making sure I am going to receive the money?

    • Hey Efe,
If you are planning on buying a car for the sole purpose of driving for Uber, it would not be my recommendation unless there’s another good reason for the car. As far as getting a discount on buying a car, I’m not sure.
I know Uber has a program where you can finance a car through them using dealers they are partnered with, but I’m not sure how the terms work or the kind of discount you can get from becoming an Uber driver. If you go through their process or some more info about it, I would love to know.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Michael,
Honestly, it depends where you live. This list was created from the information I’ve searched over the web, and from Uber’s website. But, this list is based more on the Los Angeles and San Francisco market. In other markets there are cars not on this list that are eligible. Because every market has a different list, I cannot put every vehicle that’s eligible in other markets or I would have a lot of cars that aren’t eligible in most markets on this car requirement list. Hope that gives you a straight answer.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Chay,
I looked up the requirements. Denver, Colorado is qualify Ford Fusion’s 2013 and up. So you should be able to drive Uber Select for a year or 2.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

      • i have a 2017 Honda Accord sedan 4 doors , and i live in Orange county Californa , is it qualified to drive for Uber ?

        • Hey Duc,
Your car qualifies for UberX. So, yes you will be able to drive for Uber. You can get a sign up bonus by applying to drive by clicking here.
          Best Regards,
          Brandon

    • Hey Cornelius,
I looked up Tampa Florida and it looks like your Nissan does qualify for Uber Select. However, the maximum age limit is 4 years so you will only be able to drive Select for this year. In 2018 your vehicle will be considered 5 years old.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Jay,
If you are already driving for Uber then I would just send them a message asking you to be upgraded. Shouldn’t be an issue for any car that qualifies.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  27. I have a 2012 Dodge Durango R/T edition with all leather interior and Several other high end options. Is it eligible for Uber select?

    • Hey Dylan,
sorry man. I don’t know any cities that qualify Dodge Durangos as Uber Select. But, you should qualify for Uber XL.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Nazem,
Not sure what city you are in, but I don’t believe Volkswagen Jetta SE qualifies anywhere for Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Shanelle,
Before you become an Uber Select driver you have to sign up and drive on UberX. After 50-100 trips, depending where you live, you can ask Uber to upgrade your vehicle to Uber Select. The only other requirement would be to maintain a good Uber driver rating.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  28. I don’t see it on the Select list but I have a new 2016 Dodge Charger black on black with leather interior & heated seats etc…Usually Charger’s don’t have interior leather and this is a head turning beautiful head turning smooth driving car with a spacious and luxurious feel inside. Wondering if it is possible for Uber to make an exception to this particular vehicle and if so I would I go about making that happen?

    • Hey Sue,
It’s unfortunate, but Uber I wouldn’t expect to make many exceptions. I like Chargers. It’s a nice car, I think Uber wants more luxurious cars than sports cars. That would be my biggest guess into Uber’s reasoning.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  29. I was just curious why the Dodge Charger isn’t a select choice? It’s one of the few, if not the only, 4 door sports car. It’s elite and super attractive. My charger gets the most compliments and yet it doesn’t get acknowledged nor rewarded.

    • Hey Carissa,
I get what you’re saying. I’m a sporty kind of car guy myself. So, A Charger is one of the car i would prefer. The qualifying cars are determined by what people are willing to pay more for in those specific markets. I guess the Charger is just not as appealing as to most people.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  30. I have been driving for UberX for over 1 year now and own a fully loaded 2015 Chevy Impala LTZ. Besides surpassing all of the requirements for Select, it has more “luxury” and technology than any of the Lincoln’s or Volvo’s in your list – from 20″ wheels to leather seats that both heat and cool. About 85% of my passengers compliment me on how luxurious my car is… and many think they mistakenly ordered a Select when they get in. So why is the Impala LTZ not on the list??!

    • Hey Cos,
Trust me when I say this. There are plenty of cars that I feel should make the list, but don’t. I wish I had the power to change things, and I’m not surprised if people are giving you great compliments. That’s awesome. The same exact car will sometimes qualify for Select in one market, but only UberX in another. It’s a shame, but hopefully one day more car will get added.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  31. It says that the Porsche Panamera is allowed, but also says the cars must have 5 seats.
The Panamera only has 4 seats.

    Any thoughts?

    • Hey Harry,
It’s interesting you mention that. I didn’t catch it at first. Any approved cars I’ve posted have come from a list Uber created. After you stating this, I even decided to send Uber an email asking to confirm. While they did not give me a reason to why the car qualifies. They did confirm indeed that you would get approved, at least in the San Francisco area for that matter. Wish they gave me a better idea to why though.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  32. Hi Brandon,

Your article was extremely helpful and hopeful. I have been for looking for specifics requirements for UberSelect in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am planning on buying a qualifying Lexus sedan but I am not sure what year it have to be. I have found several conflicting answers on the internet. Some say a 2008, some say 2012. I would appreciate it if you could point me to official specifics for Salt Lake.

And another clarifying question. Does the vehicle age limit change every year, so that car always has to be x number of years old or newer?

I look forward to your response.
    Thanks,
    :-David

    • Hey David,
To clarify your question first, you are correct. The vehicle age limit changes every year. So if it’s 2008 or newer now(2016), then it will be 2009 or newer next year(2017).
As far as the year requirement for Salt Lake City, it’s 2012 or newer for a Lexus. That also means it will probably be 2013 or newer come this new year in 2017.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  33. I’m thinking about driving for Uber to make some extra cash on the side. I drive a 2013 Ford F-150 Lariat with the luxury package and a V-8. Would my truck qualify me to drive Uber select?

    • Hey Rick,
Unfortunately, I have not seen any kind of truck that qualifies for Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Lawrence,
I’m not sure of any list that considers your Subaru for Uber Select. I read through the article that you posted, and the SUV looks great, but it just doesn’t make the cut.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  34. I have a V8 Dodge Durango Citadel-black with black leather interior, fully loaded- but it has captain seats instead of a middle row bench- so it only seats 5 passengers. Does this qualify for anything above uberX? I am in Boston.

    • Hey Jason,
I grew up with a Durango as one of my family cars. I like them a lot. Unfortunately, yours wouldn’t qualify for anything higher because you don’t have the middle row bench anymore. If you did, then you could fit more people and your car would then qualify for UberXL

  35. Cadillac just introduced their new XT5. The SRX last year on the market was for 2016 model. The XT5 replaced the SRX. When will they have the new XT5 on the list of select?

    • Hey Letitia,
I’m sure even if the car isn’t on the list you may still get approved. Only because the vehicle is too new to have maybe been added yet.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  36. I have a RAM 1500 luxury pickup. Laramie Longhorn. Leather seats with fine detailing. All the bells and whistles. Indirect sky blue lighting. Killer sound system. 2015. Looks brand new. Sits 5. Heated seats and more. High end electric cover over the bed. Black. Rides like a dream. Everyone LOVES it. Could it become select?

    • Hey Deborah,
While it sounds like you’ve got a great truck with all the bells and whistles, I don’t think it will qualify for Uber Select. I’ve never actually heard about a truck qualifying.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Josh,
That’s a good question. I’m not sure to be honest. But if I were to guess, it might be because the fact the model has been discontinued. The last year is 2014. Not that 2014 is that long ago, but considering the models been discontinued, it probably means the Acura TSX wasn’t a popular choice for many people anymore. Just a thought, but I’m not really sure.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  37. I am a Lyft driver and thinking about becoming an Uber driver. I drive a luxury SUV i.e. 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. It is a beautiful vehicle, leather interior, and cost over $40k, with only 16,000miles. Would this qualify as an UberX? Could you direct me to a link that compares difference between what a regular vehicle and UberX vehicle makes?

    • Hey Kay,
You should be able to drive UberX with your vehicle. What do you mean by regular vehicle and UberX vehicle?
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Keith,
Sorry, but Nissan Maxima does not qualify for Select in Nashville. However you could still drive for UberX.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  38. Hey brutha, thanks for all the q and a.
Saw something about 4-1-17 the base year (for select I’m assuming too) will go up? In Chicago, the partner website says 2007 for select but Chicago.Uber says 2008 now. Will it bump to 2009 (or 2008 respectively) on 4-2017?
    Thoughts?
And does the Volvo xc90 qualify for XL (don’t think it has 6 seat belts)? Have seen conflicting info.
    Thanks!

    • Hey Kane,
I would think because of what the website states that It would be bumped up to 2008.
As far as The XC90. I would think it does qualify for XL. The seating capaicty is 7 seats. So the driver plus 6 extra seats.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  39. I am in Minneapolis, MN. I have an Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring. It is a great car and is better than many on your select list. I would like this car designated as a UBER Select car. It has all of the requirements listed on your UBER Select page.

    Thanks for your consideration

    Ron

    • Hey Ronald,
Sorry to inform you, but I’m not actually an employee of Uber. This is a personal blog, and I drive independently for Uber. This means it’s not my choice on which vehicles qualify for Uber select. The best thing for you to do is message Uber support in your partner app asking if they would be a able to make an exception.
      Best of luck,
      Brandon

  40. Hey Brandon,

I have a 2010 GLK 350 Mercedes. My driver’s seat has a slight key tear and one small penny size dent that not to noticable on it. Will my car qualify for Uber Select after I do the 50+ Uber rides and request for an upgrade. Thanks!

    • Hey Delante,
If it’s not a noticeable tear then I don’t think it would be a big deal. Will probably get overlooked. Depending on your market it should qualify.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey George,
As long your car isn’t too old your Chrysler should qualify for Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  41. Hi Brandon
I am in the San Antonio area. I have a 2014 Dodge Durango that is immaculate. It has low miles. Doesn’t have later sears and I do drive UBER XL. Other UBER drivers that drive select say they think it would qualify. Would it in this area? Thanks

    • Hey William,
I like the Durango. I grew up with one. But I don’t think it does qualify. You could always make an attempt anyways.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  42. Any chance the VW Passat will be added to this list? Drives and looks incredibly similar to the VW CC.

    • Hey Richard,
I’m not sure if it will. If enough markets approve the vehicle then I would add it to my list. Problem is a new Passat is about 12 grand shorter than the CC. Not sure if that makes a difference.

  43. Good Day!
I drive a 2 year old E-Class Benz, Dallas and have a 4.93 rating 50+ trips. I was told 2 weeks ago by an Uber Support in the downtown office that I needed the high rating, and 50+ trips. I was told by Uber yesterday on a Help Support that I qualify for Select. They gave me an additional login that I could enable (and did this morning). I drove most of the day thinking I was earning more income for my services. Now I am told I need 100 trips on a support ticket. What’s right?
    Please and Thank you!

    • Hey Rick,
The website says 50+ trips. But if Uber is telling you a 100 now I don’t think you have much of a choice. You could always take a screenshot and send it to Uber support.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  44. Hi 2014 Kia Cadenza in Chicago. It’s black with black limo tint windows. 19Inch rims and heated seats front seats are air condition. My seats are napa white leather. Has a rear shade. It’s a real nice car. It’s sister car the Hyundai Gensis and it qualifies for select but yet my car isn’t on the list. I emailed Uber and they didn’t say how my car can get added. Do you have any suggestions for Uber to entertain my car as a select car?

    • Hey Judah,
Unfortunately, every market is a little different when it comes to which vehicles qualify and which ones don’t. In Chicago your car isn’t approved and it sounds like Uber has already told you the same thing. There’s nothing I would be able to do to help. I would just drive for UberX and see if that it is worth it for you.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  45. I just bought Acura MDX 2009 ..do you think it is qualified for uber selet in San Francisco, CA…becouse l didn’t see it on the list

    • Hey Daniel,
The list I compiled comes mainly from SF’s market. So if it’s not on the list then it’s not approved. However, I live in the same area as you so I know you’re living in a good market even if you just drive for UberX.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Dalvin,
As long as the Hummer is 2009 or newer you should be able to drive for Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  46. Hi I drive a 2013 Lexus CT 200h fully loaded yet it seems I am only an Uberx here in Minneapolis MN. Am I eligible to qualify as UberSelect? And if so how do I make that happen? Thank you,

    Beldonna (Be)

    • Hey Beldonna,
While there are plenty of Lexus that get approved for Uber Select yours doesn’t seem to be one of them. Most Lexus aren’t hatchback while yours is. I believe that’s the main reason why the vehicle doesn’t qualify.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  47. Would a 2013 Nissan Maxima S with black leather interior, black tinted windows, pristine exterior qualify?

    • Hey Jessica,
It would depend where you live whether or not the vehicle would be approved. Most markets wouldn’t allowed the car, but there are a couple markets that I believe do. Just need a location to determine that.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  48. From Denver Colorado
My car is on the list
2014 Chrysler 300C AWD Varvotis edition Black, Black Leather, Black Wheels Limo tint in the back seats, 10,000 Miles 4 heated seats, cooled front seat, Every Bell and Whistle, but I am an Uber x ?????

    • Hey Charles,
I would send them a message asking to upgrade. When you start driving for Uber you have to start on UberX. After you take 50 trips or so you can then upgrade to drive for a more premium service.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

      • Hi Brandon,
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland good for Uber Select!

I live in Campbell/San Jose area, but plan to make trips to SF Airport and surrounding areas.

        Karl

        • Hey Karl,
I live in the East Bay. So you’re fairly close to me. All of the Bay area including San Jose is part of San Francisco’s market. In this market Jeeps aren’t approved for Uber Select. However, depending on your gas mileage, you should be able to make good money in this area driving for UberX. I personally drive for X and can make $1,000 a week working 35 hours a week in this area.
          Best Regards,
          Brandon

  49. I was wondering if my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, fully loaded with all options would qualify for select in Colorado Springs, colorado?

    • Hey Cris,
      While a majority of markets don’t approve your Jeep, you just happen to be in one of the few markets that does(;
You must drive for UberX first. Once you meet one of the below trip & rating requirements you can get upgraded to Uber Select.
4.9 rating after 25+ rated trips
4.8 rating after 50+ rated trips
4.7 rating after 100+ rated trips

      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  50. I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 fully loaded with leather does that qualify for select in the Tampa Bay market

    • Hey Paul,
unfortunately The Chrysler 200 does not qualify for Uber Select in Tampa Bay. You can still drive for UberX though.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  51. I just became an Uber driver. I have a 2016 Huyndai Genesis. What else do I have to do to become a Select driver?

    • Hey Ali,
after completing between 50-100 trips I would send them a message about be upgraded. As long as your car qualifies in your market, which it might, you should be able to get upgraded at that point.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  52. Hi,
I drive a 2015 Subaru Wrx limited. It is a luxury sports sedan. It fits the requirements u have listed. Am I able to upgrade to uber select? Thank you.

    • Hey Dana,
Depends what market you are in. Nice car by the way. Just let me know a location.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  53. Hello,
I am an uber driver in Los Angeles, CA and my vehicle is a Chrysler 300 2015 (on the list of eligible vehicles) . I have been only picking up UBER X passengers. How can I get UBER Select passengers?

    • Hey Thanhdi,
Since you’ve already been driving with Uber I would send them a message about upgrading. I don’t believe there should be an issue.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Faisal,
It depends on your market whether or not the car qualifies. I would need to know your city to give you an idea.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  54. Hello,
I have a Hyundai Genesis 3.8 4D sedan (leather trim) would that qualify as a uber select vehicle??

    • Hey Charles,
It depends on the year of your vehicle and the city you drive in. Some cities will accept that vehicle while others won’t.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Mike,
It depends where you live. Some markets will accept your car; Some markets won’t accept your car. I would be able to better your answer your question with a location.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  55. I drive a 2013 dodge RAM 1500 that seats 6 people and it’s got tons on room. Is there anything I can qualify for besides the Uber X? It almost didn’t seem worth driving with how low the fares are and driving a big truck. Any suggestions?

    • Hey Crystal,
I can understand what you are saying driving a truck around. I’m sure the mileage wouldn’t be great. Seating 6 is a fair amount so I would see about UberXL. It could be a possibility. I’m honestly not sure about any other services though because trucks aren’t typically allowed on the more premium services.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  56. Hi I drive a 2011 Saab 9-5Turbo with a leather interior. I have been driving uber X and uber eats for the last year but I want to bump up to uber select be used my car is just as nice as a lot of the cars on the list above.

    • Hey Sayeed,
It depends where you live, though I have never seen a Saab on any list I’ve looked at. It is a nice car that actually like a lot myself. Felt like a plane taken off in the one my friend had years ago. I could try messaging Uber about upgrading, but I can’t promise things will workout.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  57. So here is the kicker … 2012 Hyundai Equus … top notch … listed on several cities as Select … even as Black

    NOT QUALIFIED IN SF???

How do I get to the powers that be to consider???

    • Hey Jesse,
The thing is Uber always tells their drivers the cars that qualify are based on what kind of cars people are willing to pay more for in that market. While I only have a Hyundai Sonata I constantly see people with a lot more BMW’s, Lexus, Mercedes. It’s a much richer area so people demand higher quality vehicles. I never saw the amount of luxury cars near Boston that I do over here. There’s a lot more middle and upper class. But if you go to Ohio where there aren’t as many upper class people the requirements don’t have to be as high to qualify for a more premium service. This is the exact reason why your car qualifies in some markets, but not all. Even my car qualifies for Select in some markets and I didn’t consider it a Select vehicle at all.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  58. Hey Brandon I upgraded from Mazda cx-7 to the grand touring Mazda 9 fully loaded leather everything can you explain the requirements you guys used to consider for select?

    • Hey Skip,
Requirements can vary slightly city to city. Uber has said the types of vehicles that qualify depend on the demand of what people are willing to pay extra for driving in those specific cities. Some cities will require a vehicle to be 8 years or newer while other cities might only let you drive if the car is less than 5 years old. Overall, the information above gives you the basic requirements for every city. The only thing that might be a little different is the year the vehicle has to be and type. However, for the most part it’s similar.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Joshua,
Ford Fusions can’t be more than 2 years old to drive on Select in Orlando.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Vincent,
Florida has like 5 markets and I couldn’t find which one Fort Lauderdale is in but I would say your Lexus would fall under Uber Select.
      Best regards,
      Brandon

  59. Hi my name is Jay, I have a 2012 VW touareg, and I’m living in San Francisco bay area. Does my car qualify for a Uber select? Thanks!

  60. Hi…I have a Buick Enclave black exterior and enterior with leather seating. Ive got a lot of compliment from my customers once they just open the door and get inside. I can see it is listed at the above list but when I applied and visited Uber support office they claimed it is not a select vehicle and cannot be.

    • Hey Ahmed,
If Uber didn’t approve you for your car that’s very unfortunate. While the car is on my list there are a few things you may want to consider.
What year is your vehicle? It might not just be new enough. Every city has different year requirements.
What city are you in? While I do have your car on my list, you might live in a different city or state from me. This means while you will have similar cars that may be approved for Uber Select it doesn’t mean every car that is on this list will qualify for Uber Select in your market.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  61. I have a 2015 Ford Explorer Limited. It is fully equipped. I live in the Tulsa area. Would it qualify for uber select?

    • Hey Luis,
It depends which market you are in because LA and San Francisco vary slightly on which cars qualify. Plus you have Sacramento as well, etc…But, while there are plenty of Lexus that qualify, I don’t see yours on the list.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  62. Hi,

I currently have a 2016 LS with Sensing. It’s currently black but it’s interior is beige and not leather. I drive in New Jersey. Is there any chance I could qualify for Uber Select. I’ve gotten a couple of riders who say I should drive for Uber Black because my seats are comfy and it feels like a 5 star ride.

    • Hey Koyani,
Good to have a brand new car, but in Chicago your Nissan doesn’t qualify for Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Gary Johnson,
If that’s really your name(: Your Hyundai Equus should qualify for Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon
      P.S.
      I’m voting for you(;

    • Hey Arnold,
Depends on your market. Most Volkswagen’s fall under Select or UberX. However the markets I did quickly browse at didn’t seem to qualify your car any higher than UberX for the markets that did approve certain VW’s.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  63. hey, I have a 2010 VW Tiguan, fully loaded with leather interior and a sunroof and I wanted to know if that qualify for Uber select? am in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thank you!

    • Hey Richmond,
The great news is your car does qualify. However, the bad news is your car will only qualify until the end of this year. The reason why is because every year that passes the car has to be a year newer. Your car year is 2010 which is the oldest your car can be this year. But, next year the oldest the car is allowed to be is 2011.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey ReRe,
Tampa Bay doesn’t actually have Uber Black at the moment, but your car would qualify for Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Kristian,
Your vehicle could be a possibility, but it depends where you live.
      For Example;
In Denver the car would be acceptable for Uber Select, but in San Francisco the car is not on the list.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  64. My wife and I have been driving a 2015 Toyota Venza (SUV crossover) with leather seats, and here in Denver it qualifies for Uber Select.

    • Hey Don,
That’s awesome it qualifies. It doesn’t qualify in the San Francisco market. Denver also allows Hyundai Sonata’s(The car I drive) to be Uber Select while I can only do UberX over here. There’s definitely some advantages and disadvantages living in different markets.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  65. I have a 2012, 4door, Jeep Wrangler sport, all black, and comfortable, great condition, I live in Hawaii.

  66. How about a 2014 Kia Cadenza – Limited. It has every luxury that a Mercedes E class would have. Easily seats five. Lots of leg room in back seat.

    • Hey Nace,
It depends which market you are in. I couldn’t tell you without a location. However, from most lists I’ve read Kia’s don’t seem to be a car brand that qualifies much higher than UberX in most markets. Hawaii is one market your Kia would qualify for.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  67. I drive a 2016 Civic Touring black/leather with 2600 miles. I don’t see why my car wouldn’t qualify.

    • Hey Shannon,
While your car is a nice car it isn’t consider a luxury vehicle. It’s a very common car; Most people don’t ride to pay a premium to ride in a car that they probably own. More-so that’s the reason why it wouldn’t qualify. However, it does vary depending on which market you are in. Sometimes you do qualify.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  68. I live in las vegas and have a 13′ Ford Taurus limited excellent condition does it qualify for uber select…

    • Hey Chris,
Sorry to say, but Ford Taurus doesn’t qualify for Uber Select in Las Vegas.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  69. Hi I just started driving Uber and have a 2013 Infiniti G37 Sedan (practically new 14,000 miles on it). I am classified under Uber X. How do I get my car upgraded to Uber Select in Denver, CO? I have searched everywhere on the Uber website and there is no help.

    Thank you!

    • Hey Gabriel,
There are a few requirements to qualify. I believe your car will qualify so you have that checked off on the list. The other requirement is maintaining a high driver rating.
      The rating must be;
      4.9+ rating after 25 trips.
      4.8+ rating after 50 trips.
      4.7+ rating after 100 trips
      .
Once you meet the second requirement, Message Uber about upgrading to Select. Everything should be good after that.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  70. I drive a fully loaded 2013 fully loaded Ford Fusion SE Hybrid with leather seats. Can I qualify for Uber Select? I drive in Tampa,FL

    • Hey Justin,
In Tampa Bay, Florida you would’ve had to have a 2015 Ford Fusion to qualify. In 2017, you will need a 2016 or higher Fusion.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey John,
From the list I read there are not any Nissan’s that qualify for Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Hughes,
It depends where you live. It may or may not be approved. I know most places wouldn’t approve it, but like I said. It really depends where you live.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  71. Hi Brandon,

I live in Chicago, IL and own a 2012 Lexus CT200h (F Sport version). Would it qualify as SELECT?

    • Hey Emily,
I didn’t see your car on the list. I’m not sure if I’m correct, but it might not be approved for Uber Select because the car is a hatchback. Not sure if that makes a difference.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  72. hello, I need the list uber select orlando, the Nissan altima, sl.2015, qualify?leather.
    Hyundai sonata limited, 2015, qualify?

  73. I drive with Uber right now I just recently bought a 2013 Chrysler 200 the car is in Immaculate shape no scratches no rust has every option known to man leather seats in the whole nine yards does this car qualify for Uber select

    • Hey Travis,
I really wish you asked about the Chrysler 300, because then I could say you should qualify. But unfortunately, the 200 doesn’t qualify even though you could say both vehicles are great.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  74. I have a loaded 2009 VW Tiguan with leather in Jacksonville, Florida and many passengers comment on how nice my car looks as you can see in the comments left by my satisfied riders. Can I be upgraded to select?

    • Hey Dirk,
In Jacksonville, Florida Uber Select isn’t available as a service. At least, not yet. You have UberX, Uber XL, and Uber Black available. Unfortunately, you don’t qualify for Uber Black either. You must have a luxury car. Looking up your car online it seams to only be considered a sport utility vehicle.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Avery,
While your car will be great for UberX, it won’t qualify for Uber Select in Santa Barbara.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  75. Hey im in Central Florida, and i just got a 2015 Dodge Charger RT in Black, with black leather and gray suede interior. Im current a uber x can i get in to uber select?

    • Hey Carlos,
Nice car you have. Honestly, I would send a message to Uber support. I haven’t found any list that actually has Dodge vehicles that qualify for Uber Select. But asking wouldn’t hurt.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  76. I have a 2014 Toyota Avalon Hybrid limited leather full option navy blue. It should easily BE ACCEPTED AS A SELECT.

    • Hey Jamil,
I take it Avalon is your kind of car. Haha. Well, the list shows it’s accepted for Uber Select, but thanks for emphasizing that.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Yep. Toyota Avalon is the same framework as a Lexus ES. Both cars will run you about 40k with all options (Avalon) vs. standard (ES).

  77. 2014 Dodge Charger R/T. Chicago. Car has leather, heated rear seats. Heated and cooled front. In perfect shape.

    • Hey Rob,
Nice car you got there. Dodge Chargers are pretty nice cars, it surprisingly doesn’t qualify for Uber Select. Now that I think about it, I don’t see any Dodge vehicles on mine or others people’s list either.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey James,
It probably depends on your market. Where are you located? I’m also not sure if you were asking about V60 or XC60? XC60 does qualify. But V60 it depends. NYC doesn’t accept them at all from one list I read(Not even UberX). And I know in San Francisco they don’t have them on their Uber Select list either.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Peter,
In order to drive, even for just Uber X, you are required to have a vehicle that can seat up to 5 people(Including the driver). If your can only seat 4 people with the driver than it would not qualify for any of Uber’s services.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • I have a black 2015 Ford Taurus limited with black leather interior. Why does this not qualify for uber Select?

      • Hey Marc,
Honestly, it depends in the market you are in.
For example, In Denver, CO your car would qualify.
But in other markets, New York, San Francisco, LA, to name a few, your car wouldn’t qualify.
The reason is partially because of the demand of that specific market. Uber places cars on the platform that people would be willing to pay a higher premium for on Select.
So, going back to Denver, people apparently are more willing to pay a higher price to get in your 2015 Ford Taurus, but in a place like San Francisco, people are willing pay a higher premium for a BMW or Mercedes, but not a Ford Taurus as the car isn’t as luxurious as a as the brands I just named.
It also goes hand and hand with the year of your car. Just because you drive a Mercedes doesn’t mean you can driver for Uber Select either. If the car is too old than you may only be able to do UberX.
        Hope that explanation helped.
        Best Regards,
        Brandon

  78. I live in Columbus, Ohio and drive a 2006 Lexus LS430 in excellent condition (90K miles). Can this car be considered for “Select” status?

    • Hey Matthew,
In order to drive for Uber Select in Columbus, Ohio your car needs to a 2010 or higher. While you wouldn’t qualify for Select, you could do UberX still.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Lara,
From the research I’ve done it doesn’t appear your car qualifies for Uber Select, but you could still drive for UberXL since you can seat a lot of people in your car.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  79. I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima dark grey with black leather seats driving in Raleigh NC. I was recently upgraded to Uber Select. You may want to add it to your list.

    • Hey Kevin,
Gotta say, I’m a little surprised you were able to get your car approved for “Select”. I went browsing through some other markets to but couldn’t find your vehicle approved in any other markets. For those that live Raleigh, NC here’s a list of vehicles approved specific to that market only.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • How did you accomplish this?

I have an Equus and SF is giving me the run around and I need to know how to get them to consider it.

  80. Hi Brandon, I just got a new 2016 toyota camry se with everything fully loaded. But it’s not on the list. I did see the Toyota avalon is on the list. Does my camry qualifies.

    • Hey Jeffrey,
I wish Camry’s were approved for Select because I had one before, but unfortunately it’s too common of a car to get approved. Car definitely should last forever for you though.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

      • Hey Angel,
Thanks for the response. Camry’s are not very usual cars for Uber Select, but you prove that there are some markets that do accept Camry’s. However, most don’t. Of course, even for Denver it shows the car year needs to be a 2015 or newer to qualify for Select. Thanks for the info.
        Best Regards,
        Brandon

  81. I signed up at the office today in Nashville. The person I spoke with said my 2012 Ford Fusion SEL with leather qualifies for select but it is not on the list of qualified cars. Anyone know if he was mistaken or if my car is qualified?
    Thanks

    • Hey Brian,
If the person said your car qualifies then congrats. In most markets Ford Fusions won’t qualify for anything above UberX. However, it does depend where you live and the list I’ve provided are cars that basically qualify in any kind of market.
It does seem some markets do make exceptions with certain vehicles, and I guess Nashville is one of the markets.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  82. Hi brandon. Im kind of confused. Im in miami driving mercedes 2013 as a uberx. And i heard that i can go fo uber select. Can you please conform to me? Thanks

    • Hey Micipsa,
You are correct. If you are driving a Mercedes you should be able to get approved for Uber Select. You might’ve had to take certain amount of trips to upgrade to Select(50-100 trips most likely). If you have been driving awhile on UberX I would send an email asking to upgrade.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon.

  83. I have a 2011 Ford Taurus limited, leather seats, headed and cooled seating. Can do do select? And if so how would I go about it?

    • Hey William,
Unfortunately your car wouldn’t qualify for Uber Select. If you ever change cars, however, to one that would qualify you can send support an email about upgrading and they should be able to get everything taken care of for you.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  84. Hi

I drive a 2016 subaru legacy limited. It has black leather, heated seats in the front and back, premium stereo, navigation, sunroof and eyesight. It’s night a common car but it looks very luxurious. Although I just started driving I’m wondering if when I reached 50 trip would my car qualify for uber select in the Miami, FL area.

    • Hey Arlene,
Congratulations on your new car by the way(Mines only a 2011:(. Unfortunately, your Subaru doesn’t qualify for Select. I’m sure a lot of people on UberX will appreciate your car though!
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

        • Hey Genet,
In order to be an Uber Select driver your vehicle must be considered a luxury type. Unfortunately, Your Chevy Equinox does not qualify. However, you can still drive UberX.

  85. I drive a black 2011 Range Rover sport HSE
    Superclean and excellent condition
    Does my car qualify?

    • Hey Melissa,
Nice car! You should definitely qualify for Uber Select. Depending on which market you are in you could even qualify for Uber Black.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  86. Hey, I have a 2009 Black Saab 97X, 5.3 loaded V8, leather, DVD, moonroof, Bose, rear air, 5 belts etc. etc. Can this this added to Atlanta select so I might be able to make some money ????????

    • Hey Rick,
Sorry to say, but your car doesn’t qualify for Select, but you can still do X.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  87. I currently have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition with every available option. Beautiful brown saddle leather, heated and cooled seats, panoramic sunroof, premium sound system, dark tinted windows and huge trunk space for whatever luggage or shopping bags people have. The interior is very much like a Land Rover. I currently drive Uber X and a lot of people say I should be driving in a higher bracket. Is my car acceptable for select? I currently drive in the West Palm Beach area

    • Hey Derek,
I did some looking around and it looks like your car will qualify for Uber Select but you will only have until 4/1/17 to drive on Uber Select until your model isn’t accepted anymore.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey Dominick,
Unfortunately, Ford Focus doesn’t qualify for Uber Select. But, you do qualify for Uber X.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  88. I have a 08 acadia. I am a uber driver now. It has all the the requirements for select. I ask at the uber office about this. They said I couldn’t do select because it was an 08? I do x ad xL now.

    • Hey Stephen,
Ya the disappointing part is some cool cars don’t qualify because of the year. How is X and XL treating you?

  89. I have 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE black with leather. Is this qualify for select uber or just XL or both? Thank you

    • Hey Bob,
Your car should definitely qualify for Uber XL, but I’m not so sure about Uber Select. Uber doesn’t really like having vans on their more premium services. With Uber Select, they are trying to advertise more of a luxury car.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  90. Hi
    I HAVE A SONATA HYUNDAI 2015 BLUE
I’M DRIVING FOR UBER X NOW AND WANT TO KNOW IF MY CAR IS ELIGIBLE FOR SELECT?
    THANKS

    • Hey Sean,
I wish Hyundai Sonata was approved for Uber Select since that’s what I drive(2011 Hyundai Sonata), but unfortunately it’s not.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  91. Hi Brandon, I just started using Uber and I drive a 2016 Black Toyota Rav4 SE, all black leather interior and meets all the requirements listed above, except that its not on the car list. Would Uber accept it to use for Uber Select?

    • Hey Arturo,
I did some research to see if your car qualifies. Unfortunately, it seems it only qualifies for UberX. Sorry to tell you, but nice car by the way.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon
P.S. If you really feel you should qualify considering how new the car is I would email Uber support and see if possibly your market would accept the vehicle.

  92. Hi,

I have a 2015 ford taurus limited edition. Grey, with leather seats, front and rear heated seats chrome package also. I deive uber x and have over 150 drives

    • Hey Joe,
You may qualify for Uber Select. The problem is every market is different. From my understanding Uber also bases what vehicles qualify for which uber service by a lot of the feedback of what riders would be willing to pay for that specific car.
I read somewhere that in OKC your car would qualify, but at the same time if you go down to Austin and drive you couldn’t do Select. Although at the moment no one can drive in Austin due to Uber not agreeing with the cities new policies for drivers.
      Anyways…
Depending on your market you you might qualify. So, my recommendation would be to send your local Uber support team and email regarding your car. They should be able to give you more information in regards to your specific city.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  93. Hey there –
I have a black Ford Edge Limited with ski rack (I live in CO)
    Peter condition with leather seats.
    Thoughts?

    • Hey Justin,
Did some research and noticed it seems a lot of markets don’t accept Ford Edge as an Uber Select car, but in the Denver area you can use a Ford Edge as long as it’s a 2013 or newer.
      Hope that helps,
      Brandon

  94. I’m driving a 2012 Hyundai Geneses . I just started but I think you said you need 50-100 rides to qualify for select?
Should I email Uber? I know it pays more but would I get as many rides as X?
I’m working Orange Co. area , Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, HB…

    • Hey Scott,
It does vary city to city the amount of trips you have to take on UberX. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I know up here the requirement is 50 trips. So it may be the same for you.
As far as how many trips you can get. X will always give you more trips than Select would because it’s the most popular service used, but you can actually be an Uber Select driver and still accept UberX trips. Think of it as the the best of both worlds.
What I would personally do is try doing just Uber Select and then switching where you accept both x and select and then compare what is making you the most money with the least cost of gas and maintenance.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  95. I saw on one of the Uber web sites that a Lincoln MKS qualifies as a Uber Select. Please let me know. Nashville,TN

    • Hey Ron,
You are correct. Your Lincoln MKS should qualify for Uber Select. But, remember that requirements very city to city so it will depend what year your car is. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find much on qualifying vehicles in the Nashville area so I would recommend emailing your local Uber support team to verify.
Lincoln is a luxury brand and I doubt there will be an issue.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  96. Hello,
    I have an 2015 Q50 Infiniti.
Does it qualify for Uber Select?
If yes, please advise how I can register it.

    • Hey Josiph,
You should be able to qualify with your 2015 Infiniti. I do have it on the list. If you haven’t started driving with Uber; You will first have to sign up as an UberX driver. Once you take about 50-100trips depending on your city, then you can talk to Uber about switching to Uber Select.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  97. I am in South Florida, Palm Beach County… not many Honda’s on the list above. I’ve been asked by riders if I was “Uber Select” (which I’m not). I’d like to be though…

2011 Honda Ridgeline 4-door crew with leather, covered bed, clean, black on black, in vehicle WiFi, satellite, 4 passenger (plus driver)…. it has a larger back seat than most other “Uber Select” vehicles.

Thoughts? Is it is because it is classified as a truck? Does Uber offer visual inspections (other than the safety ones) that would allow one to “cross over” into the Uber Select realm?

    • Hey Brian,
Pretty cool that you’re driving a truck for Uber. I didn’t realize trucks were allowed on the platform until you mentioned your truck, although I would question the profitability of driving a truck for Uber? How has it been working for you?

I did some research about trucks and Uber. From what I have read on different forums and websites is depending on your market you might not even get approved to drive a truck even if it is 4-doors. So, I guess this means you’re in one of the few acceptable markets that allows it, although maybe that will expand into more markets in due time.

As far as for Uber Select, I read that trucks are only acceptable on the UberX platform which is unfortunate considering you have in vehicle WiFi, as well as the specs that you named.

Considering not every market accepts trucks for UberX, you might want to try emailing your local Uber support team. Maybe your market would allow it if you asked.

If you are able to drive Uber Select let me know.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  98. Hi i have a 2013 black ford fusion, with leather seats, with chrome on the exterior and black windows tints, really look like a presidential car, no accidents, im working in uberx because in my city is not available uber select but im moving in a month to cape coral florida where is available, will my car qualify? Thanks

    • Hey Rolando,
It sounds like your Fusion is souped up more than a lot of others. Unfortunately I don’t believe it would qualify for Uber Select. Because of the color, leather seats, and the year, I would send an email to Uber Support and maybe they’ll accept, but I think you’ll still only be able to do UberX with your car. But sending an email would atleast be worth a try.
      Best Of Luck,
      Brandon

  99. Does a black with black leather interior Buick Enclave qualify as an Uber select car in Dallas ?

    • Hey Pierre,
Your Buick Enclave should qualify for Uber Select as well as Uber SUV if that was a thought for you. I updated the list to have your car included for qualifying cars.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

    • Hey David,
I did some research and your Volvo XC90 should qualify for Select. Also due to the fact you can fit 7 people in the car you should also qualify for UberXL
I did update the qualified car list to reflect your vehicle on it.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

      • Brandon, your list above says that if the vehicle has third row seating it wouldn’t qualify for Uber Select but the XC90 does?

        • Hey John,
Thanks for noticing. I see what you mean by that. In San Francisco the Volvo XC90 does not qualify for Uber Select, but in Los Angeles the vehicle does qualify. I updated the page to represent this requirement applies to SF’s market. Of course, if anyone knows other areas where third row seating is ineligible then I would be happy to reflect those other markets on this page as well.
          Best Regards,
          Brandon
P.S. If you’re in the Columbus, Ohio area with an XC90 you would be able to drive for Uber Select in that market.

  100. I have a Toyota Avalon and it’s the twin to a Lexus ES350…might want to think about putting that one on the list

    • Hey Joseph,
Thanks for the suggestion. I double checked and you are right. Your Avalon is on the list as well. However it does depend on the car year as well. For example, in San Diego your Avalon needs to be 2011 or newer to still be eligible. Car year aside, I updated my list to reflect your car as well as a few others that I hadn’t put on the list yet.
      Best Regards,
      Brandon

  101. 2014 avenger sxt with leather seats i know it qualfies as a uberx but does it also qualfies as uber select and luxery in palm beach county,fl.

    • Hey Dave,
After doing some research I would, unfortunately, have to say your 2014 Avenger wouldn’t qualify for Uber Select or Lux. examples of other cars I listed above are all cars that cost about $35,000 or more to buy new where as your car is more like the low 20’s. I could buy a 2014 Avenger as low as 10 or $11,000 researching online. I’m sure it’s comfortable for passengers, but not the type of vehicle Uber is looking for on the high-end luxury side of things.

  102. I have been picking up passengers under uber x but my car is a 2012 Bmw 5 series. How do u get uber select passengers

    • Hey Paul,
Since you are already an Uber driver I would send an email to Uber support about becoming an Uber Select driver as well. Not every market has this service so be sure to double check.
